SUMMARY:WATCP 2022 Annual Statewide Conference
DESCRIPTION:View the Full Conference Agenda\nThis year WATCP will once again be offering a hybrid conference for both in-person and virtual attendees. \nAll in-person participants\, vendors\, speakers\, and staff will be required to sign a waiver of liability in order to attend the in person event. No exceptions. The waiver must be on file prior to the start of the conference.\nCost for in-person attendance (with virtual access) is $300.00 (or $150 for students). This includes all conference sessions\, breakfast\, lunch snack on Days 1 & 2\, Breakfast on Day 3\, and the Meet and Greet on Day 1. A virtual link will be provided to all those with in-person participation registration. Cost for virtual-only participation is $150.00 (or $50 for students). \nLeading in this year’s events…\nA no-cost Standards 101 training will be held on site on Tuesday\, May 3rd from 1 to 5 p.m. This is a free training designed for anyone new to Treatment Courts or any New Treatment court teams. It is being offered both in person and virtually to help newer attendees get the full benefit of advanced topics presented during the conference. If you are unable to attend the full conference\, you can register to attend just this 4-hour training. \nTAD funding can be used for travel and training related expenses so team members can attend the WATCP Conference in-person or virtually. Any travel restrictions are determined by your local jurisdiction\, not by the TAD Grant or DOJ policies. \nContinuing education credits will be offered for the following disciplines:\nCLEs from State Bar\, Judicial Ed credits from the State Court\, CEU’s from NASW\, and Law Enforcement credits. \n  \nBook your lodging by April 1st to secure WATCP’s special group rate. \n\nBook your lodging \nAs in the past\, guests are responsible for setting up and paying for their lodging directly with the Kalahari. Lodging includes access to the Water park and other resort facilities. \nImportant information regarding payment and booking at the Kalahari: It is the policy at Kalahari Resorts\,to not accept completed Letters of Authorization forms\, Tax Exemption forms\, nor Purchase Orders at the time of hotel check-in. They have a dedicated team that approves these forms to ensure validity prior to attachment to the reservations prior to check-in. These forms should be submitted no later than 7 days in advanced to us at dellscallcenterfax@kalahariresorts.com or fax them to 608-254-6116. We highly suggest that the attendees submit these forms at minimum two weeks in advanced prior to the hotel check in so our team can process them in a timely manner. Failure to follow this procedure may result in full room and tax charges to the attendees on their personal cards; since our Front Desk will not accept these forms at check-in. If you have any questions at all\, I am attaching a link to our website that will bring you to our general policy page. for the entire resort\, that explains our policies in full detail. (Link: https://www.kalahariresorts.com/wisconsin/help/faq/}.\nRegister Here\nSign your waiver\nConference registration closes on Friday\, April 22nd.\nInterested in being a vendor at this event? SUMMARY:(Webinar) Cognitive Behavior Interventions in Case Management
DESCRIPTION:Cognitive Behavioral Interventions are seen as an evidence-based practice and even as the gold standard among criminal justice programming. Often\, it is assumed that these interventions can only be administered through lengthy and formal programming like T4C\, MRT\, or CBI. In fact\, case managers can and should integrate brief\, efficient\, and effective cognitive behavioral interventions on a regular basis with their clients. This workshop will include both theory and hands-on practice with tools and techniques which can be integrated into ongoing case management. \nSpeaker: Jason Chapman \nRegister Now

SUMMARY:(Webinar) Teleservices: Using Technology to Enhance Treatment Court Operations
DESCRIPTION:In today’s tech-savvy world\, computers\, smartphones\, and videoconferencing offer new opportunities for drug courts to serve clients and address staff training needs. The Center for Court Innovation\, in partnership with the Bureau of Justice Assistance\, is piloting technology initiatives with problem-solving courts in several states. These jurisdictions are using technology to increase capacity\, address treatment barriers\, supervise clients\, and provide training for staff. The courts have found that treatment services\, including MAT\, toxicology screening\, compliance monitoring\, court hearings\, and staff training are all accessible remotely. Join staff from the Center for Court Innovation for a practical discussion about technology implementation and discover what technological advances are on the horizon for treatment courts. Participants will learn about current technologies being used by problem-solving courts; understand specific strategies for using technology to enhance treatment delivery\, client supervision\, and staff training; and learn how to access online training resources for drug court professionals.\n\nPresenters Monica Christofferson and Sheila McCarthy\n\nRegister Now

SUMMARY:(Webinar) Constitutional and Legal Issues in Problem Solving Courts
DESCRIPTION:Problem-solving courts have become a central feature of many state justice systems\, as they offer an effective\, evidence-based approach for addressing the underlying challenges—like substance use disorders and mental health issues—that often drive people into the justice system. Decades of research shows that these courts save lives\, reduce reoffending\, strengthen families\, and improve public trust in justice. One of the major critiques of problem-solving courts\, however\, is that they raise constitutional and legal concerns related to due process\, right to counsel\, access to appropriate treatment\, confidentiality of information\, and other issues. It is critically important that problem-solving court judges and teams understand these constitutional and legal issues and ensure that their courts are conforming to the law and protecting the rights of participants. In this session\, a legal expert from the Center for Court Innovation will provide a comprehensive review of the major constitutional and legal issues in problem-solving courts and facilitate a discussion around specific issues of concern to session attendees. Session attendees will be able to: 1. Identify the key constitutional and legal issues implicated by problem-solving courts; 2. Cite the major constitutional and legal underpinnings of the problem-solving court model; and 3. Improve their own courts by applying the information and recommendations offered in this presentation. \nPresenters Sheila McCarthy and Monica Christofferson \n  \nRegister Now
